Latest Update - July 2023

In September 2022, we submitted planning permission to Newport City Council. Our proposals are to build a new over 55’s scheme along with some bungalows on the old St Johns Court site this will be phase 1 of the works, and the demolition of 1-23 Oak Road which will be replaced with 1 and 2 bed flats and 3-bedroom houses will be phase 2 works.

In 2022 we held two engagement in Oak Road where we showed designs for the over 55’s accommodation and the bungalows. While the application is still in the planning process, we are regularly talking to Newport City Council planning department and answering any questions they may have about this development.

As yet we do not know when we will have a decision on the application but we are doing everything we can to help the council in their process. Once a decision has been made by the planning department, we will update you.

As you know we are building the new over 55’s scheme for you to move into and before we demolish the flats . If our planning application is approved we will be looking to get a contractor on board with us to start building the new scheme and bungalows. We will be looking to start building works in 2024, it will be an 18 month build programme so we expect you to be in your new home in 2025 / 2026.

Please click here to view the boards that were presented at our consultation event on Tuesday 18th October.

We had a meeting as we were aware there were lots of concerns voiced at a meeting held by the Church on the Wednesday 22nd June 2022,

We have listened to these concerns and looked at how we can change the letting of these 6 x 1 bed flats, these properties will now be allocated to those over 55 years of age and we will also be putting in place a local lettings plan for our customers who are looking to downsize.
