A group who support veterans, their partners and children has a new home in the city. Newport Veterans Hub now meet every Thursday from 3pm to 8pm at Newport Stadium

They were based at Rodney Parade and want to let current and future members know about their new venue.

Thanks to the National Lottery Community Fund members can take part in activity sessions in the indoor court at the nearby Geraint Thomas National Velodrome of Wales from 5pm to 6pm.

We were proud to support the hub through our community benefits funding with one of our contractors. Earlier this year The Jehu Group, who are building our new homes on Coverack Road, donated a new laptop and mobile which has helped the veterans attract more members and get grants.

The volunteers refer veterans to a wide range of support from food parcels to getting back into work.  They started in November 2019 and do a fantastic job of getting veterans out of isolation and into their own support network.

They held a launch event last Thursday at Newport Stadium. David Watkins, CEO of Newport Veterans Hub, and the Lord Lieutenant of Gwent, Brigadier Robert Aitken CBE, gave short speeches to celebrate the opening to a crowd of guests sat in the stand.
