Carbon monoxide is a colourless, odourless gas which can be released from certain appliances if they are not working correctly.

These types of appliances include:

  • gas boilers
  • cookers
  • fires, and
  • solid fuel appliances, such as coal or log burners.

Carbon monoxide alarms

We have installed carbon monoxide alarms in every home. If your alarm goes off, you must contact the gas emergency service provider immediately on 0800 111 999, open windows and doors and leave the property.

It is very important you allow us access to your home for your annual gas safety inspection. During this appointment we will make sure your detector(s) are working correctly.

Safety reminders

Purpose-made ventilation must not be blocked or compromised as fresh air is needed to ensure the appliance can operate safely.

Please avoid using the following items in your home:

  • LPG bottled gas portable heaters
  • barbeques
  • shisha pipes, and
  • burning coal to warm air fragrances.

These items can be dangerous and result in carbon monoxide setting off the alarms.
