Hello!

Welcome to our October blog update about our work in Somerton.

We had our Resident Steering Group meeting on 4 October at Nexus House and online via Teams. We had 2 residents and 3 councillors attend in Person and online. Terry and Phillippa from Oxford Architects attended.

Terry talked through the design activity that we have been working on, please see minutes for this detail.

Project Plan

We are working to our project plan, which includes timescale and a phasing plan for each area of the regeneration (demolish and build new homes) works. This is a working document and all dates are provisional and could be subject to change.

Design Update

We have now submitted our designs for the Acacia Avenue area to the planning department for comment prior to a full planning application being submitted early next year and are waiting for their response. The designs have incorporated comments from planners following their recent walkabout in Somerton. There will be more details once the responses are received back from planning and we can apply any changes.

The specification for the refurbishment of houses in Somerton is still being discussed and further details will be shared once a final decision has been made about the specification.

Communications

The NCH trailer was in Somerton for the day on 7 September, it was well attended with around 50 people visiting during the day and speaking to staff about the regeneration plans for Somerton. Afterwards we attended the Alway Ward councillors surgery at the Hope Centre which was also well attended.

We are planning to hold a consultation event in December, more information about this will follow.
