Hello!

Welcome to our September blog update about our work in Somerton.

Our last Resident Steering Group meeting was on 7 September at Nexus House, with a combination of people attending in person and online. 11 residents and the 3 Councillors attended. Terry and Andrew from Oxford Architects attended, to talk through the design activity we are working on.

Here's the minutes from the last meeting.

Project Plan

Within our project plan we have been working on key objective, visiting our NCH customers to ensure we have up to date information on their households. The valuations are underway for any homeowner requesting a valuation of their home. We have also been planning the next community consultation event for Thursday 29th September.

Valuer

Work is well underway with homeowners that have requested a valuation, there are currently 35 homes that have been valued with enquiries still coming in. 1 property has completed and there are 14 properties at the legal stage.

Design Update

Design proposals have been drawn up for regeneration on Acacia Avenue, Sycamore Avenue and Hawthorne Fosse to date. During the meeting design proposals were shown for Sycamore / Hawthorne Avenue design as a possible location for older persons accommodation. A regeneration plan for Sycamore / Hawthorne Avenue which is directly south Hawthorne Fosse has also had regeneration plans drawn up, due to the proportion of NCH ownership.

The deign team have drawn up plans for regeneration of Ashley Road site which includes Somerton Crescent and Poplar Road, this area looks at improving links to the school and provides a play area for children in the area.

Another scheme looks at Libeneth Road for regeneration with plans to demolish and build the exact same number of units.

The design team have been looking at the refurbishment programme, a specification is being drawn up to look at the works that will be needed to bring the properties up to a lettable standard plus also look at these homes becoming net zero carbon.

Included in the minutes is a map that shows the areas that are currently being looked at for regeneration and refurbishment, these are design proposals and may change.
