Hello!

Welcome to our March blog update about our work in Somerton.

Our March Resident Steering Group met on the 1 March at Nexus House, due to a technical issue we could not get onto Zoom.

We had 7 residents attend the meeting at Nexus House. Andrew from Oxford Architects attended at Nexus House - he talked through the design activity we have been working on.

Read the minutes in full here.

Valuer

There have been 51 valuations carried out, all of which are at different stages of this process. Valuations are progressing along and will continue into 2023. To date we have completed on 11 buy backs.

We are pausing our voluntary purchase scheme due to the success of the scheme to look at taking a more phased approach to buying back properties that are within a regeneration scheme.

Refurb

We are putting all the information together for our tender pack to go out to contractors to put bids in for the works on the 2 pilot properties, this has been delayed slightly as we are looking at using a new and innovative heating solution to trial in one of the pilot properties.

The heating system is called NexGen and is an infrared system which can be applied to ceiling and walls, in the case of the pilot property we will look to use this system on the ceilings.

Communication

We were looking to hold our next community engagement event on the 30 March. However we are waiting on survey information which needs to feed into our plans, and there has been a delay in getting this work carried out, as we need access to Newport City Council land.

We will advise of when the next community engagement event will take place in due course.

Time and Date of Next Meeting

Wednesday 5 April at 17:30pm
