Our annual affordability results: How affordable is your home?

With energy prices increasing, delivering good value for money is vital. At Newport City Homes, we're committed to delivering affordable services for you.

Last year, we asked you about the affordability of your rent, service charges, and other costs of living in your home.

This includes energy bills, food costs, and other expenses. Of those who responded:

• 65% said yes, their rent is affordable
• 21% said no, their rent isn't affordable
• 14% said they didn't know if their rent was affordable

We also asked you what you'd like to hear more from us. Of those who responded, 61% said that energy support advice would be most useful.

What we've done

We're here to help you. Many of our customers worry about increasing energy bills, so we've launched a new team of energy advisors. Whether it's in-person or over the phone, they'll help you reduce your energy costs. They’re also trained to do money health checks, give budgeting advice, and help you apply for energy bill support.

We've also increased our Well-being Fund this year. This enhanced support will help you if you're struggling to make rent payments.

We’re going to be out in your community this year, taking time to visit you, particularly if it’s been a while since we last heard from you. We want to make sure that everything is going well for you in your home and, where you feel that you need some extra support, we’ll be there to provide it.
