John Frost High School officially opened a new common area for its sixth form students last week with a little help from Newport City Homes.

Furniture including sofas and tables were gifted to the school following an accommodation review at the housing association, which saw its Nexus House office on Lower Dock Street reduce from three levels down to two, as part of its continuing drive to achieve value for money.

Health & Safety Officer for Facilities at Newport City Homes, John Cecil explains;

“Following the accommodation review at our Nexus House head office, we were left with some additional furniture which we wanted to reuse in some way as part of our focus on sustainability. After looking for a good home, we were pleased to be able to gift the sofas and additional furniture to John Frost High School for the new sixth form common room. We hope the students enjoy their new space!”

Craig Shinton, Head of Sixth Form at John Frost High School said;

“We’d like to thank Newport City Homes for the generous donation. It’s really helped to bring this new space to life and will be a fantastic area for our sixth form students to relax and study between classes.”
