The £7.9million Pillgwenlly regeneration scheme has a new Apprentice Resident Liaison Officer.
Pillgwenlly resident Andrew Young, who has previously worked on the Friars Walk development, has taken up this new role with United Living, which is delivering the scheme on behalf of Newport City Homes.
The scheme will see nine one-bedroom flats and two three-bedroom properties being built.
They will also be recladding existing properties, as well as installing a community hub.
Stamping out anti-social behaviour is also a main priority as many areas which were affected by bad behaviour have been demolished and two new areas of open space will be created.
“The regeneration is definitely a positive thing, you can already see the community becoming more cohesive,” Andrew explained. “I’m really excited about what’s happening in the area. The community can also feel a difference already”

Work on the project is expected to be completed by winter 2018.
