Our merger with Melin Homes has taken another positive step forward with the appointment of two Board positions.

Martin Reed and Lynda Sagona

Lynda Sagona has been confirmed as Chair Designate and Martin Reed as Vice-Chair Designate for the new association.

Currently Chair of Newport City Homes' Board, Lynda brings a wealth of experience, having previously been Group Chief Executive at United Welsh Housing Association. Prior to this, she held roles in Welsh Government, the Welsh Development Agency, and Value Wales.

Martin has served on Melin’s Board since 2019, becoming Chair in August 2023. He is a retired finance director of Brains Brewery, where he worked for 17 years, and currently advises a number of Boards in the property and hospitality sectors.

Both Lynda and Martin will continue to play an important role throughout the merger process and transition - working alongside Melin’s Chief Executive, Paula Kennedy, who was recently appointed Group CEO Designate and Ceri Doyle, Chief Executive of Newport City Homes.

It is anticipated that the new association will come into being in Spring 2025 following completion of the due diligence process.

Melin and Newport City Homes are currently seeking the views of all their customers to help shape the new organisation.

All customers have been sent a survey and will be able to give their views at engagement events throughout the spring and summer.  Or they can contact their Independent Tenant Advisor, Keith Edwards, who has been appointed by residents from Melin's Voices engagement group and Newport City Home's Scrutiny Partnership. Keith can be contacted on 07949 443 039 or by emailing ITA@promo.cymru.
