Please note that Newport City Homes will be carrying out emergency repairs only on Friday 18 February.

If you have an appointment booked with us, we will contact you to rearrange.

What is an emergency repair?
We class an emergency as an incident where there is an immediate danger to your safety or your property. This could include:

  • Dangerous electrics
  • A gas leak
  • A major water leak or a roof leak that’s causing water damage
  • Flooding
  • Broken windows or broken glass
  • A front door that isn’t secure or doesn’t lock
  • Repairs in our most vulnerable residents’ homes

Report an emergency repair 24 hours a day by calling us on 01633 381111.

Do not report an emergency repair via our website or social media as this is not a 24 hour service.

A rare red weather warning has been issued for parts of Wales as Storm Eunice approaches. Here's what the Met Office says to expect:

  • Flying debris resulting in danger to life
  • A risk of flooding
  • Damage to building and homes- with roofs blown off and power lines brought down
  • Uprooted trees are likely
  • Roads, bridges and railway lines closed with delays and cancellations to bus and train services
  • Power cuts- which could impact mobile coverage
  • Large waves and beach debris being thrown into costal roads and homes

Be prepared, stay safe and protect property - make sure you know what to do.

Before the storm

  • Secure loose objects such as ladders, garden furniture, trampolines or anything else that could be blown into windows and other glazing and break them
  • Close and securely fasten doors and windows, especially large doors such as those on garages
  • Park vehicles in a garage, if available; otherwise keep them clear of buildings, trees, walls and fences

During the storm

  • Stay indoors as much as possible
  • If you do go out, try not to walk or shelter close to buildings and trees
  • Keep away from boundary walls and fences
  • Do not go outside to repair damage while the storm is in progress
  • Take care when driving on exposed routes such as bridges, or open roads, delay your journey or find alternative routes if possible
  • Do not drive unless your journey is really necessary

After the storm

  • Be careful not to touch any electrical/telephone cables that have been blown down or are still hanging
  • Do not walk too close to walls, buildings and trees as they could have been weakened
  • Make sure that any vulnerable neighbours or relatives are safe and help them make arrangements for any repairs
