Newport City Homes (NCH) has donated £500 to Newport Now’s “Christmas Cwtch Appeal” to support vulnerable children and young people across the city.

This comes days after colleagues from the association donated more than £1500 worth of toys to the Raven House Trust Christmas Toy Appeal.

Our Chief Executive Ceri Doyle said;

“These are extremely challenging times for children, young people, and their families due to the increasing cost of fuel, heating, and additional pressures of the cost of living.

“As an association, Newport City Homes is committed to supporting our customers and communities throughout the cost-of-living crisis, and we’re pleased to be able to support the fantastic efforts of Newport Now and the Christmas Cwtch appeal through this donation.”

200 vulnerable children and young people, who face homelessness, need financial assistance, support, and a Christmas Cwtch from those who are able to help.

Led by Newport Now with support from Newport City Council’s Children's Services, the appeal will make sure essential items and Christmas gifts get to the most vulnerable children, young people, and families in Newport this Christmas.

The Christmas Cwtch appeal is still looking for help and support in the form of small donations from local people and businesses.

Any and all contributions are welcome and appreciated. Volunteers will create hampers, packs and wrap Christmas gifts for those children, young people and families identified by Children’s Services, including things like -

  • Throws/warm blankets, gloves, hats, socks, hoodies/fleece tops
  • Age-appropriate toys/games
  • Books and gift vouchers
  • Hot water bottles
  • Toiletries
  • Christmas treats including selection boxes/biscuits

If you’re able to, you can donate to the Christmas Cwtch appeal through their Go Fund Me page here.
