Our 2021 Rent & Service Charges consultation is now open until Tuesday 31 August.

Every year, we carry out a review of our rent setting policy, where we look at the views of our customers on the rent and service charges they pay, and what determines ‘affordability’.

Back in March 2020, in consultation with customers, we developed a new Social Rent Setting policy to make sure our rents are fair and affordable, now and in the future.

Our customers were informed of our new policy when they received their rent letters in April this year, and you can find the policy here.

This year, our consultation is focusing on service charges and general affordability.

What are service charges?

Service charges are the costs of providing features and services to a home, building, scheme, or estate. This includes services like cleaning communal areas, grass-cutting and grounds maintenance, window cleaning, or features like lifts and emergency lighting.

We want our rents and service charges to be affordable and we’d really like to hear from you - even if you took part in our consultation last year - because this will help us to understand if opinions have changed.

How do I share my views as part of the consultation?

We’re offering several ways to get involved, so you can #TalkToNCH in the way that works for you.

  1. Take the survey
Our short survey takes less than 10 minutes to complete.

  2. Request a call back
If you’d like to have a more in-depth discussion with us about affordability and service charges, you can request a call back by contacting our general line – 01633 381 111. A dedicated member of the consultation team will get in touch with you to talk about your views.

  3. Join NCH Connected!
NCH Connected is our Facebook group just for NCH customers. We regularly post updates on our work, and there will be several discussions on service charges and affordability as part of our consultation. To find the group and join, just search ‘NCH Connected’ on the Facebook homepage.

What happens after consultation closes?

When consultation closes, we’ll take some time to work through the information you’ve shared with us. The information will be used to shape our work over the next few months, and we’ll be sharing updates on how your feedback has influenced our services throughout the year, through our website and social media channels.
