I knew from the start of my career that I wanted to make a difference. I’ve certainly done that working in the housing sector.
I joined Newport City Homes almost three years ago, and what struck me from the first conversations with our Executive Director was the collective ambition to be better. It’s not only Toyota who strive towards "the relentless pursuit of perfection"!
The NCH Journey
We make sure we’re constantly improving what we do and how we do it. This happens in a supportive space where there’s no such thing as a silly question. I have the backing of a great line manager and colleagues, and this has helped me develop on a personal level, too. It’s led to me to adopt more of the behaviours that Inside Housing were looking for in their #40Under40 campaign in June 2024, of which I was honoured to make the list!
I’ve been incredibly fortunate to be a part of the Newport City Homes Leadership Development Programme within the last 12 months. This has been a huge investment in us as leaders. It’s looked at how we can better influence, be more effective, what strengths we have, and how we can best use them.
Support and Challenge
What I love about working at Newport City Homes is the genuine culture of support and challenge. You don’t need to be afraid to share your opinion, and we’re always respectful of each other’s views. We always want to get the right answer for our customers and our colleagues.
I think we have something special here at Newport City Homes; the culture really does allow people to flourish.
