Pension Credit gives you extra money to help with your living costs. It's separate from your State Pension. If you’re over State Pension age and on a low income, you might be able to claim it.
It’s estimated that up to 850,000 pensioner households may be entitled to Pension Credit, but don’t claim it.
If you receive Pension Credit, you may be eligible for other financial support - including Winter Fuel Payments. You might also be able to get help toward housing costs and council tax.
There's also more information available on the government website about Pension Credit.
Am I eligible for Pension Credit?
You can claim Pension Credit if you're of State Pension age (currently 66 or over) and on a low income. If you live with a partner, they must also be of State Pension age.
If you live alone and your total income is below £218, you're likely to be eligible for Pension Credit.
If you live with a partner and your total income is below £332, you're likely to be eligible for Pension Credit.
Private pensions and savings are not barriers to receiving Pension Credit. Neither are some disability benefits, housing benefits, or council tax reductions. Please check the government website on more information about Pension Credit eligibility.
